About Pauli Bailey
Pauli Bailey was born in Wheeling, WVA. Her family moved to Japan for 4 years. By the time Pauli went to college at University of CA at Davis, her family had been back in the U.S. for 8 years. Sometime in the college years Pauli transitioned from the Fine Art department with Wayne Thiebaud to the Textile Design department with Katherine Rossbach and Deborah Rapoport. UC Davis was at the pinnacle of arts education at the time and Pauli was fortunate to have been there.
As Director of Operations for Art Works Downtown in San Rafael, CA, Pauli learned art business while pursuing painting on her own. She practiced plein-air painting with Camille Przewodek.
“200 Offerings for Peace” broke through for Pauli. Her desire to raise funds so that girls in Afghanistan could go to school resonated with many. 200 became 500+. Recognizing that art can move people fueled her commitment to fine art.
After years of too much smoke and fire and drought, she and her husband set off in a van with their cat, Hero. They headed North toward rain. Kindness made them choose Silverton and the Willamette Valley landscape with her favorite, luscious greens.
